I am writing you this letter so that other women in my circumstance realize, they do have options. I am now a 40 year old woman, about a year and a half ago I started having some issues, originally, I thought I was depression. I've never been a depressed person or have never felt like this. I was feeling very down, not sleeping at all, my energy level was almost none, I became forgetful, nauseous periodically, had no sex drive. I began sweating all the time especially at night. I would wake up every hour on the hour with night sweats, on with the covers, off with the covers, getting up changing sheets because I was soaking through them. I would suffer hot flashes during the day and started not having a period when I should, I could not function properly. I felt like if anyone would say anything to me, I would either cry or tear there head off with my hands alone. My people skills seemed to be leaving me and I was left with this empty shell. I could hear the way I was speaking to people, especially my poor husband, and new that this was not me and something was terribly wrong. 

I started with my G.P. and he did some blood work on me. At that time my blood work was pretty good. They checked my Thyroid, Liver, blood pressure all the usual stuff when your considered healthy. I explained the way I was feeling with my doctor and he told me that I was 38 going on 39, women sometimes get depressed at this age and with all the pressure I could be over stressed (which, I was stressed) that all I needed was to take a light anti-depressant and some sleeping pills. When I got home that night, I was beside myself. I could not believe that this guy wanted ME to take anti- depression drugs (even though I may be a little depressed). I got on line and looked up the medicine he prescribed and was taken back that my doctor wanted me to take that medicine. 

Then I called my GYN for help, unfortunately he didn't do much more to help. He did a hormone blood test to see where my levels were. They were completely out of line and he prescribes me birth control pills, told me of a new birth control that was safe and effective for what I was going through. I thought I was going to go out of my mind, I do not like taking any medication, even Advil unless absolutely necessary. 

Some history and being displeased with the decision of birth control, when I was 18 I had my first bad pap test. For the next 10 years I continued to take birth control and had one problem after the next with my Cervix. I was having a procedure every year if not twice in a year. Birth control pills was not what I wanted to hear because when I was 28 years old they found that I had Cervical Cancer and had to have 2 surgeries to remove it. When my doctor found the cancer, he advised that I get off the pill and never take it again. At that time studies had shown a possibility that birth control was or could be a factor. I stopped taking birth control and was not going to start now. I asked for another solution. His new solution was to take anti-depression medicine. I felt like I was going crazy.

I went to 4 doctors and numerous test later, before finding out from a friend about the Bioidentical hormone replacement. I found a doctor in my area and started interviewing. Dr. Nerette was the second phone call I made. By the time I got to Dr. Nerette I was so far depleted of hormones and started having trouble signs with my thyroid. I must admit, I am so thankful to have found a alternative solution that is natural for my body and lasts for 6 months or so.. It's been since November of 2008 and I am back to normal with, as of now, no side effects to complain about. I feel like my old self again and will continue Bioidentical treatments.
